My love of period dramas, historical films and musicals created a strong interest in the ways in which people engage with the past and the types of narratives that are being told.
This is why I wanted to get involved with the Shout Out Loud project by becoming a Young Producer. It enabled me to play an active role in giving younger people a voice in the stories of our national history as well as exploring those histories that have so far been untold.
When I applied I had just graduated from the University of Bristol after studying History there for 3 years. After being a Young Producer, I actually had the opportunity to do a digital placement within the Shout Out Loud team, which gave me experience working in the sector and a new digital skillset. After working with Shout Out Loud, I went on to study a ‘Museum and Gallery Studies’ master’s degree at the University of St Andrews, and now work in fundraising and grants at The National Archives.
