I became involved in Shout Out Loud because I have always found history fascinating and been incredibly lucky to be surrounded by it growing up. I wanted to give other young people the same opportunity to learn about their past, and to make it more accessible and relatable to everyone.
As a Young Producer, I helped with the evaluation of the programme, attended a Takeover Day with the National Lottery Heritage Fund, two residentials, Zoom meetings with English Heritage’s curators, historians, and senior staff, and took part in two Instagram takeovers (one highlighting the activities of Walmer Castle for Climate Change Awareness Week).
When I became a Young Producer, I had finished Sixth Form and hope to study Ancient, Medieval and Modern History at university in September. I have also been volunteering at Dover Castle, as a room explainer, about twice a month for several years.
