England’s New Lenses: Artist Voices

On day two of the summit, we were treated to a short film screening and panel discussion reflecting on the England’s New Lenses photography commissions that formed part of the Shout Out Loud and Photoworks collaboration. Chaired by Julia Bunneman, the panel discussion talked with Kemka Ajoku and Mia Parker-Tang who were two of the four artists who took part in the project; showcasing their work, and the processes they went through.

The project invited young people to explore their own sense of heritage through photography. From the dramatic coastline of Cornwall to the windswept moors of northern England, the selected four young photographers explored alternative perspectives on Englishness, heritage, and identity in an outdoor exhibition this past summer, hosted at Wrest Park.
